Introduction

Recall that as long as you have large enough sample sizes, the sampling distribution for the proportion is approximately normal. This means that when estimating, you can use a standard normal based interval (1propZinterval) to find reasonable values for the population proportion p. This also means that you can test hypotheses using the standard normal distribution as well: 1propZtest.

The p-value method

Regardless of what you are testing, the p-value method stays the same. You are always comparing the p-value to alpha. What changes is the test that you use to get the p-value. You can see this in the following example video.

The rejection region method

Similarly, you can also use the rejection region method. Since this is a type of Z test, (1propZtest), you will used invnorm when finding the rejection region. This is reviewed in the following video.
